Angelys Balek is a global ready-to-wear women’s collection, designed to empower women to freely celebrate their individualism and confident expression, reveal their feminine and flirtatious sides while capturing a piece of an artistic lifestyle the brand represents. 

Born in Thailand, Angelys Balek, Founder and Creative Director of her namesake collection, exemplifies the global spirit, which is distinctively recognized in her work. Angelys draws inspiration from diverse cultures, travels, and artistic feminine spirituality as she divides her time between America and Asia. The multi-continental experience inspires an eclectic fusion of expression in every design – the urban chic energy of New York combined with the playful sensuality of Thailand executed in an exquisite blend of European fabrications and original prints from her own artwork. 

Balek’s background is in art, where she found her passion for fashion. Following graduation from Bangkok University with a degree in Fine Art, Angelys earned her Fashion degree at the London College of Design. With a unique perspective in color and proportion and a passion for both art and design, Angelys is able to blend both her talents to create unique collections. All of the prints in the collection are her unique artwork that are first painted onto canvas and later printed onto the fabrics.

The brand’s Autumn / Winter 2016 collection, “Maverick”, is inspired by the anatomy of a flower when viewed through a microscope. Utilizing vivid colors and lush textures, the New York-made collection offers an expanded offering from the brand’s previous seasons, ranging from ready-to-wear and gowns, to outwear that incorporates leathers and furs – a first for the designer.

Taking inspiration from a stunning floral arrangement that was sent to her as a gift, Balek was instantly intrigued by the bouquet’s unique long wooden stems, captivating colors, and unusual shapes, which prompted her to look deeper into the arrangement through an actual microscope. This process allowed Balek to develop a different perspective on one of her favorite creations of nature, thus introducing us to new patterns and colors in her already distinctive prints.  

As with past seasons, Angelys Balek continues to balance a hint of playfulness with a bit of edge, by pairing classic silhouettes with vibrant prints, unexpected cut-outs and seams, geometric pleats, and asymmetrical hems, resulting in a uniquely modern approach to everyday and special occasion wear. While continuing to explore various printing and embroidering processes on different fabrics including silks, viscose, wool, jersey, and brocade, Balek has also introduced new media to immerse with prints, including knitwear, leather and fur resulting in an eye-catching final offering.
